 |
For our Friends...
This season, we are thankful that we are able to help so many patients with their skin problems, and that medical technology has come so far. Thousands of people come here, and are treated successfully. That’s something to feel good about! Have a wonderful time with your family this month!
Because we value our patients and friends at Crutchfield Dermatology, we like to keep in touch with you through our monthly newsletter. As our practice continues to grow, we recognize that this would not be possible without your confidence in us. As always, we appreciate your referrals.
Something for everybody...
In addition to providing you with some of the most up-to-date dermatologic information, our newsletter will bring you fun, helpful, and informative articles on a variety of interesting topics. If you have any ideas that you think our newsletter readers would like, be they dermatologic or just fun and interesting, please let us know. If we use your suggestion, you will be rewarded with a $25 gift certificate for skin care products or Spa services at our clinic. Contact us at editor@crutchfielddermatology.com with your ideas.

November is National Alzheimer’s Disease Month
In 1983, President Ronald Reagan proclaimed November as National Alzheimer's Disease Month to recognize the progress being made against Alzheimer's disease and to show understanding and support for the individuals with the disease, as well as their families and friends. Since that time, the Alzheimer's Association has used the event to raise awareness of Alzheimer's disease, the experiences of people with the disease and their families, and the importance of finding treatments, preventions, and a cure.

Mrs. Minnesota-America 2006
"Even though I've competed in pageants for years, I had never had any cosmetic procedures done. Even though I'd heard wonderful things about Botox and Restylane, I was very hesitant to try anything for fear of looking overly "done." Although I was hesitant at first, I decided to give them a try and am SOOO GLAD that I did! Dr. Crutchfield listened carefully to my concerns and reservations and gave me EXACTLY the results I was looking for! He is the best in the business and I would not trust anyone else with my cosmetic dermatology needs. Dr. Crutchfield and his staff get my highest recommendation and I will be a very satisfied patient for many years to come!"
I mean it with all my heart! You truly are the best!

Veteran’s Day
Veterans Day is the American name for the international day of remembrance called Armistice Day. It falls on the 11th of November, the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that ended World War One.
All major hostilities of World War One were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 with the German signing of the Armistice.
The day has since evolved as a time for honoring living veterans who have served in the military during wartime or peacetime, partially to complement Memorial Day, which primarily honors the dead.

Special Skin Microscope
As a general rule of thumb, Dr. Crutchfield recommends that everyone have a baseline comprehensive skin examination at some point in their life. Based on the examination, your dermatologist will recommend how often you should have additional exams in the future. The most important thing is to get a prompt evaluation if you have a mole changing in any way (size, color, or shape) or any spot on your skin that bleeds and does not heal in three weeks (without provocation). Also, any person who has had a melanoma should make sure that all of their first-degree relatives have a baseline skin examination. At Crutchfield Dermatology we are pioneers in the use of the revolutionary dermatoscope in the evaluation of suspicious moles. This allows Dr. Crutchfield to better see the inner structure of the mole, often times eliminating the need for an uncomfortable biopsy. |
