soap and water -- 2 tablespoons per gallon -- sprayed on
them directly. They can also be kept out of the home, to

Here’s
a cute story about Dr. Crutchfield’s son, Charles
IV
Charles
IV, age 3, was undergoing standardized tests at his
preschool. The test involved such things as evaluating
colors, numbers, and shapes. When it came to the shapes,
he got every shape correct (circle, square, triangle)
except rectangle. When the teacher repeatedly asked him
“Are you sure, Charles, you don’t know what this
is?” Finally, after much contemplation, he got a
smile on his face and said, ”Oh, that’s a
remote.”

What
is special about this microscope?
It
is a revolutionary dermatoscope used for the evaluation
of suspicious moles. This instrument allows Dr.
Crutchfield to better see the inner structure of the
mole, often times eliminating the need for an
uncomfortable biopsy. As a general rule of thumb, Dr.
Crutchfield recommends that everyone have a baseline
comprehensive skin examination at some point in their
life. Based on the examination your dermatologist will
recommend how often you should have additional exams in
the future. The most important thing is to get a prompt
evaluation if you have a mole changing in any way (size,
color, or shape) or any spot on your skin that bleeds
and does not heal in three weeks (without provocation).
Also, any person who has had a melanoma should make sure
that all of their first-degree relatives have a baseline
skin examination.

What
is the meaning of the phrase “Run
Amok”?
To
'run amok', which is sometimes spelled 'run amuck', is
to behave in a wild or unruly manner.
Origin: 'Run amok' is now synonymous
with the term 'go crazy', but originally had a specific
meaning. The term originated in Southeast Asia, where
'amok' (variously spelled amuk, amuck, amuco) meant 'a
murderous frenzy or rage'. This derived from the state
of mind of the Amuco - a class of 'death or glory'
warriors who were employed in local power struggles in
Java and Malaysia. Their belief was that fallen warriors
became favourites of the gods, whereas failed missions
were punished by dishonour and death. Unsurprisingly,
the Amuco warriors had little to lose and their attacks
were maniacal and frenzied.
