Dr. Crutchfield Delivers Minnehaha Academy Commencement Address and Receives Award
The Minneapolis/ St. Paul Business Journal's - 2006 Minority Business Award!
Dr. Crutchfield gave the commencement address for Minnehaha Academy High School on June 4, 2006. The graduation was held at Bethal University auditorium. His talk was on “The secret of Success”. His 6 year old daughter Olivia also participated, on stage, by giving the graduates a gift from Crutchfield Dermatology. Dr. Crutchfield was also given the Distinguished Alumnus Award at the event. Dr. Crutchfield was a member of the 1978 graduating class of Minnehaha Academy. |

Kids Play, Worries Rest and Fun Happens at Camp Discovery!
For young people with a serious skin condition, Camp Discovery offers a summer camping experience unlike any they've had before. Every year, the American Academy of Dermatology sponsors a week of fishing, boating, swimming, water skiing, arts and crafts, and just plain fun.
Under the expert care of dermatologists and nurses, Camp Discovery offers campers the opportunity to spend a week among other young people who have similar skin conditions. Many of the counselors have serious skin conditions as well, and can provide support and advice to campers. Fun, friendship, and independence are on the top of everyone's agenda. and everyone shares in the Discovery of what it's like to be included.

Special Skin Microscope
As a general rule of thumb, Dr. Crutchfield recommends that everyone have a baseline comprehensive skin examination at some point in their life. Based on the examination, your dermatologist will recommend how often you should have additional exams in the future. The most important thing is to get a prompt evaluation if you have a mole changing in any way (size, color, or shape) or any spot on your skin that bleeds and does not heal in three weeks (without provocation). Also, any person who has had a melanoma should make sure that all of their first-degree relatives have a baseline skin examination. At Crutchfield Dermatology we are pioneers in the use of the revolutionary dermatoscope in the evaluation of suspicious moles. This allows Dr. Crutchfield to better see the inner structure of the mole, often times eliminating the need for an uncomfortable biopsy. |
