Successful garage sale Tips
Provide clear signage at busy intersections the morning of your sale. Use a single color of paperboard for all your signs so potential shoppers aren't confused by inconsistent signage (black marker on a bright, light-colored background, such as yellow, will be highly visible).
Group like items together and merchandise. Pair a lamp with a table or set out dishes in a place setting instead of keeping them in old boxes.
Dont repel shoppers by setting out used cosmetics or lingerie. It is not a junk sale, so only sell useful stuff in good condition.
Have money on hand to make change. Real Simple magazine suggests that you have $50 in ones, $30 in fives, $50 in 10s, $60 in 20s, and $10 in quarters (one roll).
Provide a measuring tape so buyers can measure furniture, and an extension cord so they can try out electronics.
Have the kids set up a lemonade stand to keep them occupied and provide beverages for thirsty shoppers.
Price low and expect to haggle.
