Energy Saving
Tips for the Kitchen
- On your gas stove, adjust the flame so that
the tip just reaches the bottom of the pan.
The tip is the hottest part of the flame.
- Resist the temptation to peek in the oven
while baking, every time you do this you lose
25º of heat.
- Turn off electric burners a few minutes before
the food is done. The heat left in the burners
will finish the job.
- Allow dishes to air dry. You can save half
the energy your dishwasher uses by not using
the dry cycle.
- Defrosting items slowly in the fridge will
allow the frozen food to do some of the work
electricity would normally perform.
