Q. Doug, as winter winds down and the beauty of spring is just a short ways away...what are your spring allergy tips for this year?
Doug White: It is time for the beauty of spring, and the dreaded spring pollens! With the pollens, come the irritating and annoying allergy symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, cough and itchy eyes! One way to beat the spring allergies symptoms is to get an early start on allergy prevention. The annoying symptoms can be easily controlled by regular use of anti-histamines, nasal steroids, or a combination of both.
Q. Does a person have to have a prescription for those remedies?
Doug White: Traditional and non-sedating antihistamines are available over-the-counter, but you would need a prescription for a nasal steroid. Remember, now is a good time to check your prescriptions to see if you need refills, or need to see your doctor for a spring check up! As always, you can check with your friendly, knowledgeable Cub pharmacist for excellent advice on all allergy remedies.
