When a moist tongue touches a piece of very cold medal, the moisture on the tongue is instantly frozen, creating an ice bond between the tongue and the metal. It would not be wise to experiment with this, since the bond thus formed is very strong, and pulling the tongue away from the metal before the ice is properly melted could tear off part of the tongue’s surface.
