Free Botox for Life

Charles E. Crutchfield III, MD is on the verge of reaching the holy grail of aesthetic/cosmetic medicine: one million units of Botox administered. While it seems more fitting for Hollywood, where defying age is the culture, as a dermatology resident in 1994, Dr. Crutchfield learned looking and feeling good is just as important to Minnesotans.

“Everyone cares about their appearance,” Dr. Crutchfield explained. “Business professionals, stay-at-home moms, and retired folks all want to look their best. We also treat Minnesota’s celebrities, including pageant winners, professional athletes, and media personalities. Playing a role in a patient’s success and providing the confidence that comes with improved appearance is really special.”

Rumors have circulated that Crutchfield Dermatology and Allergan, which makes Botox, would do something big when Dr. Crutchfield hits a million. Monday he confirmed the rumors, announcing that the lucky patient scheduled for the millionth unit will receive “Free Botox for Life!” The clinic’s tracking the units but won’t disclose who is scheduled to receive it or when other than it’s in the coming weeks.

To reach a million Botox units takes an exceptional physician. Dr. Crutchfield credits personally administering all Botox treatments to his patients for over twenty-five years. One of the world’s most proficient Botox physicians, he was the first Minnesota physician to earn the coveted ‘Expert Injector’ designation. But successful Botox treatments aren’t just about experience, either. It’s about patient safety, too.

“Our clinic’s motto ‘experience counts and quality matters’ reflects our philosophy,” he said. “But it’s also about keeping patients safe when treating their most visible features. I’ve treated many patients after they experience horror stories from trying to save a few pennies.”

To address the danger of poorly-trained, non-medical personnel treating patients, Dr. Crutchfield joined physicians from across the country to establish Doctors for the Practice of Safe and Ethical Aesthetic Medicine. (DPSEAM.org) The group advises the public to ensure they are protected when seeking cosmetic treatments.

But the buzz this summer is about the patient who will have the good fortune of being there when Dr. Crutchfield hits a million. Allergan representatives have also expressed excitement and enthusiasm.

“Dr. Crutchfield is a leader in aesthetic medicine and dermatology, always in the top one percent of all physicians providing aesthetic treatments in the world,” said Barry Lycka, MD, Internationally recognized dermatologist and President of the Doctors for the Practice of Safe and Ethical Aesthetic Medicine. “Virtually unmatched in experience, anyone considering Botox can trust him for safety and great results.”

For nearly a million Botox units, the clinic has backed Dr. Crutchfield’s work with a guarantee that if a patient isn’t happy, Dr. Crutchfield provides another treatment without charge.

“From the first Botox unit I administered until today, I’ve wanted all my patient’s results to be perfect.”
As interest in “Free Botox for Life!” gains interest, the clinic has clarified that the winner will receive 100 units of Botox per year for twenty-five years, subject to other conditions. Since the announcement, Crutchfield Dermatology staff and their family have been pressed for information.

Dr. Crutchfield’s daughter told him a friend’s mother kept hinting about the Botox milestone, finally asking outright when she thought her dad would hit a million. His daughter replied, “Daddy doesn’t tell me that stuff, but my friends’ moms all look great!”

One of her friend’s moms might end up looking especially great for the next twenty-five years.
