Dr. Crutchfield Wins National Recognition Award from the Dermatology Nurses Association
Charles E. Crutchfield III, MD, was given the 2005 Editor’s Award from the Dermatology Nurses Association. The singular award was presented in New Orleans on February 18, 2005, at their national convention. The Dermatology Nursing Editorial Board decided to initiate and present the first award to “recognize someone who has made a special contribution to the journal and to dermatology nursing education.”
“I was honored and humbled to receive such as prestigious award. I have always been a strong advocate of dermatology nursing education. At our clinic, we pay the membership dues for all the nursing staff to belong to the Dermatology Nurses Association. I encourage the nursing staff to write and submit articles to the Dermatology Nursing Journal concerning interesting cases they have seen in our clinic. To date, our staff has published and has pending publications of approximately 10 articles. I also provide an all-expenses-paid trip to the Dermatology Nurses Association National Convention for all of our qualified nursing staff. They come back with a renewed enthusiasm for their work that is both terrific and infectious. This leads to better job satisfaction and ultimately to our primary objective, the highest dermatologic patient care available. I would encourage all dermatology clinics to support their nursing staff through the educational endeavors of the Dermatology Nurses Association. It is an essential component of our ongoing success. It is a wonderful investment that pays for itself many times over.”
Dr. Crutchfield is a Diplomat of the American Board of Dermatology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. Dr. Crutchfield is also a Clinical Associate Professor of Dermatology at the University of Minnesota Medical School. He is the Medical Director of Crutchfield Dermatology in Eagan.
