Here’s a fun and unique way to serve ice cream next to cake. Buy a pint-sized container of your favorite ice cream, then slice right through it (cardboard and all) with a serrated knife, making ice cream “rounds” that are about 1-inch thick. Peel off the remaining cardboard, then use cookie cutters to make various shapes. Store them in your freezer in between pieces of parchment paper until you’re ready to serve. And if you don’t use the entire pint of ice cream, the top will still sit flush against your “short stack” to keep it fresh for later.
