According to Postini, Inc., one of the world’s largest spam-filtering companies, there was a 147% increase in unsolicited e-mail between 2005 and 2006. For every welcome e-mail, 14 junk messages flood the in-boxes. On December 18, 2006 (a random day), Postini intercepted 1,010,186,128 spam e-mails.
